In our 8th episode, Dan talked to Diane Robertson, who co-hosts a locally produced tv show called Just Down The Road. Now, with some exciting news about the show, the other co-host sits down with Dan. He takes some time to clear the air about all the awful things Diane said about him, as well as sharing some wild things that have happened on their show (and behind the scenes).

Check it out on their website – JustDownTheRoad.net – or you can also watch a couple full episodes on their Youtube page. Click here to see a part Jeremy talks about with Dan (can’t give it away!).

A couple months into the Morning Dan adventure, the show’s producer, Jared, also Dan’s son, claimed in one of the shows he could do a better job as host and vowed to eventually start an alter-ego show to Morning Dan… called Midnight Jared. And today he finally made good on that claim!

Dan is probably the first person you think of when you hear the words ‘fashion’ and ’style’ right? For us though, that person is Jessie Artigue. She runs a blog about local fashion called The Concrete Catwalk. As you can imagine, she was very impressed with the hot styles we drape ourselves in at Morning Dan Industries.

If you’d like Jessie to help you makeover your wardrobe, get in touch with her at Syle & Pepper.com.

First of all, this Michael Carter guy is a jerk. He pulls teeth from undernutritioned kids in Central America, he shaves his beard for attention, and he’s an awful racquetball player. But nevermind all that stuff. As the producer of Morning Dan, I have my own very good reason for calling him names – and it’s in the show as proof. But if you want to know more about the concert choir he sings with, check out their website.

Marvin’s just a regular guy, but as you hopefully have learned from Morning Dan by now, everybody has an interesting story of how they got to today. His dad was a P.O.W. in Vietnam, which ultimately affected why he’s now in the job he’s in. This is exactly why we love doing this show – such an intriguing story!

Is it a Gewurztraminer, a Vidal, or a Chamborcin? No, we’re not just talking about Scrabble. In this episode, Dan takes on one of the world’s top Sommeliers. Don’t know what that is? You most definitely need to listen!

I’m sorry to say, but there is not going to be a new show today. Creating and producing Morning Dan isn’t a full-time job*, we do it because it’s so fun. Since the voiceover business, which is our real job, has been extra busy this week, we haven’t had time to put together Wednesday’s show yet. However, on Friday Dan will be talking with a professional wine dude – he’s actually got some kind of certification to prove it even.

*We’d love it to be full-time so this doesn’t happen anymore! You should use today to decide which one has been your favorite show and then please tell a few of your friends to give it a listen. Help us spread Morning Dan sickness!

Most of us have all suffered the agony of being stuck on a date that wasn’t going well. Some of us have that problem more than others. Shauna, however, seems to be a bad date magnet. And who doesn’t enjoy a good bad date story?! Also, Dan shares the worst breakup he ever had.

We’d love to hear your bad date stories as well. We all know you have a really good one, so leave a comment!

As a nutritionist at Harvesters, Taryn gets to teach other people how to cook and make better decisions with what they cook. But the best part is how much she loves doing that – even though she still loves fried Ho-Ho’s. Laugh and learn in today’s episode!

Also check out her blog and the Harvester’s website.

Well it only took about 5 months, but finally, Jordan, Dan’s youngest son, has found time to come on the show. Apparently he has been saving up all his complaining and ranting for this show, because he sure let loose (about the dumbest things, I might add).

Real quick though, there is a video mentioned in this episode that I’m still on a determined quest to find. It will be here the minute I find it, promise! If anybody out there has any leads, please write it in the comments.

Jack grew up dreaming of owning a restaurant and now, in the same neighborhood, he does. He and Dan chat about his childhood and about his restaurant, Marina Grog and Galley – as if Dan didn’t already know all about it. It’s only one of his favorite restaurants!

If you have ever wanted to see Dan dance (Anyone… hello? Anybody there?), you have probably been let down your whole life. However, our guest today may or may not have got him to dance with her… you’ll have to find out for yourself. Abbe is a student at the Kansas City Art Institute and has taken an unusual route to getting past her creative droughts – dancing on YouTube! You can watch a couple of her (many) spontaneous performances here and here.

We asked Chad to be a guest so to give you a chance to hear about the local organization he helped start that raises funding for pediatric brain cancer research. What we didn’t know about him is how “interesting” his in-laws are.

Bob is one of the co-founders of a local health food supermarket and he and Dan have worked together for years, when Dan used to do radio ads and things for the store, Nature’s Pantry. The friendship continues today with Nature’s Pantry holding one of the esteemed responsibilities (or embarrassment?) of sponsoring Morning Dan. So Dan’s a little biased in this show, to be sure. But he also seems to gripe a lot about stuff. Imagine that.

Also, for those of you who don’t know who this Don Johnson guy is that Bob keeps raving about, click here.

Dan and Andy have lovely chat this morning. He’s a culinary student who’s grown up in Kansas City. They talk about his favorite places to eat around town and Dan admits the awful truth about his first date with Marcia. Enjoy the pictures below by clicking the arrow buttons on the side of the photo to scroll through them.

Andy also has a Twitter account where he posts pictures of food he makes (and other general updates). You can check that out at http://twitter.com/includingtacos. Tell him hi sometime (and give him a hug for us)!

This episode introduces you to a woman who is known, internationally, as a sexy nanny. A single 20-something – she bakes, cares for children, loves the outdoors, and isn’t high maintenance. Sounds perfect right? So Dan sets out to investigate why she’s still single.

Dan chats with his producer Jared today about the usual irrelevant string of topics. They start off talking about Jared’s vacation to Winter Park, Colorado, but it tangents completely from there. One of the few things that didn’t come up, though, is Jared’s kleptomania habit with magazines at the doctor’s office. Maybe some other time.

Morning Dan returns after a fantastic vacation in the mountains. To get things rolling again, Dan watched some college basketball with Teresa Ritter while they talked about the upcoming “Hoops Hysteria.” The phrases “March Madness” and “Final Four” are actually trademarked by the NCAA, so we have to be careful as we’re sure they’re keeping a close eye on our show here. Anyway, Teresa is basically the most loyal KU basketball fan you’re likely to ever meet and Dan wanted to find out just how crazy that makes her, and why licorice makes the team win.

Well, Dan’s been in hibernation, but the big stinky bear is about to wake up. And Jared has about run out of money while snowboarding in Colorado, so it’s almost time to kick MorningDan.com back up! We’re adding a new dimension to MorningDan.com that we’ll be telling you about soon. We’ve added some new music to the music station, so you can listen and relax while you’re at work. Remember to check out the Subscribe section to learn how to automatically be notified of new shows. If there is someone you know that would be a fun interview, send us their information, including how to contact them, and we’ll see what we can do.

Good morning and thanks for coming back after our break. Let’s hope 2010 embraces Morning Dan! Today’s episode features Dan’s brother-in-law, who was visiting KC from Virginia for a little bit.

Remember, if you know somebody who would make for a good guest, let us know. We are trying to do the show three times a week and that’s a lot of folks!

Eric is Dan’s oldest son and, being a new parent, clearly the most responsible of the Hurst children. He’s the biggest potty mouth too, as I had to cover up a record number of profanities (3) in today’s show. Hey Eric, just because it’s the internet doesn’t mean your mother isn’t listening! As mentioned in the show, here is a link to his album on iTunes. Also, take a moment to look through some pictures that go along with today’s episode.

As a morning news anchor on KMBC-TV’s First News, Kris has told people “good morning” quite a few times, but in today’s show, he just didn’t want to say it. So we had to threaten him. The rest of the show he behaved himself pretty good though, even when Dan tries to stuff skeletons in his closet. Be sure to follow Kris Ketz on Twitter as well!

Not only is Jared Dan’s son, but he’s also the one responsible for writing most everything you read on the website. Yes indeed, he is writing this very post in 3rd person, and he doesn’t like it.

Anyway, every once in a while he’ll be on the show because he’s actually plotting to slowly overthrow Dan from his job as host. At some point today, he also wants you to watch this!!

If you’ve heard of Dan Hurst, you’ve likely also heard of Darcie Blake. Ever since radio was invented, they’ve been there, arguing over who had to take the boss’ phone call. But if you don’t know, Dan & Darcie were partners for a long time in the morning on a radio station in Kansas City. This episode is their first time together “on air” in about 18 months or so!

Feel free to share your memories or musings about Dan & Darcie by commenting on this episode!

Leroy is the founder of the Shatto Milk Company, a dairy farm truly local to Kansas City (as if you didn’t know). Most people know them for their glass bottles and their amazing chocolate milk. He and Dan sat down , literally on a couple milk crates, to chat about the fun of owning cows and why they’re his favorite people.

While you’re listening, scroll through the photos from the tour he gave Dan!

Somebody suggested we get in touch with Jessi and have her on the show and we’re so glad we did. Dan talks to her about her very untraditional wedding and teaches her about how to be a good wife. Definitely a fun show today!

Ed has a unique connection to Morning Dan, his daughter is the angelic voice at the beginning and end of each show! He was also a golf pro, one of those guys that work in the clubhouse you just know could sink a putt from across the highway. Dan was hoping to get some skills just sitting and chatting with him, but we all know that’s a lost cause.

As a District Court Judge in Wyandotte County, Judge Grosko is probably the most distinguished guest Dan’s likely to ever be allowed to talk to. But he’s a fantastic guy with a passion for baseball and a wife that bosses him around. Wait til you find out where his next vacation is!
